We strive to stabilise low-coordinated compounds with a bulky carbazole-based ligand. Ideally, that would lead to the coordination number 1. The central atoms chosen for this endeavour are mainly s-block and p-block elements. The unusual coordination environment should facilitate unusual modes of reactivity that will allow for new discoveries in the activation of small molecules.
